На основном исследованном участке в восточной части крепости были найдены остатки 8 каменных сооружений и смежные с ними рвы. Вдоль сооружений простирались развалы камней, щебенки и суглинка, заполнявшие рвы. Кроме того, на площади раскопов открыты два кургана и одиночные погребения, устроенные в основном в заполнении рвов.
Сегодня мы поговорим о каменном сооружении на территории Ливенцовского археологического комплекса, а именно – Ливенцовской крепости . Массивное каменное сооружение, вдоль, которого протянулся ров, находится в северной части раскопа. В плане сооружение выглядит в форме длинного прямоугольника ориентированного с ССЗ на ЮЮВ. Длина его не менее 15 метров (северный край остался не исследованным, т. к. находился на территории садов). Ширина по верхнему уровню 5,5 – 6 метров, по нижнему 6 – 6,40 метров.
Сооружение состояло из продольных кладок западного (внутреннего) и восточного (внешнего) панцирей и забутовки между ними. Кладки боковых панцирей отсутствовали. Кладка западного панциря , сохранившаяся только в высоту на 1 – 1,10 метров, сложена из камней известняка сарматского и понтического ярусов. Камни уложены в основном плашмя, без связующего раствора, в один — два ряда по горизонтали. По вертикали кладка отвесная. В ней сохранилось от 5 – до 10 рядов камней, уложенных довольно хаотично. Лишь местами соблюден принцип укладки « в замок». Щели забиты мелкими камнями и щебенкой. Только внешняя сторона кладки имеет правильный фас. Внутренняя сторона с рваными краями.
Кладка восточного, внешнего панциря, сохранившаяся высота, которой составляет 2 – 2,40 метров, ширина 0,80 – 1 метров. По горизонтали она состоит из одного ряда крупных камней или блоков или из двух – трех рядов камней среднего размера. Камни уложены впритык к стенке рва таким образом, что верхний ряд камней несколько отступал от края нижнего. В профиле кладка имеет выраженный ступенчатый характер. Такого рода система кладки придавала устойчивость сооружению. В строительной технике она применяется обычно при возведении стен на склонах. Ряды кладки уложены в основном «в замок», т. е. так что стык смежных камней нижнего ряда перекрыт камнями верхнего. Однако в ряде мест такая система не соблюдена: имеются значительные вертикальные швы, как бы разрывающие замковую кладку. В южной части внизу кладка из крупных блоков была несколько нарушена – два блока выступали наружу, за пределы общего направления сооружения. Часть камней представляла собой плиты и необработанные блоки. Забутовка между панцирями состояла из известняковой щебенки, суглинка и отдельных камней. Щебенка и суглинок представляли собою выкид из смежного рва. В следующей статье мы поговорим о рве, который окружал крепость.
